Shared Camera Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Shared Camera handles information related to you. Shared Camera is a utility app that streams the camera view of one phone to another phone in real time on the same local network.
1. Information We Collect
Shared Camera does not require an account and does not collect your name, phone number, contacts, precise location, payment information or identity documents.
While the app is running, the following may be processed locally on your device:
- Camera images: used for live streaming, scanning the pairing QR code, taking photos and recording videos.
- Microphone audio: captured only when the microphone is on at the sender, used to stream live sound to the receiver and included in recordings you make.
- Photo and video files: created only when you tap the photo or record button, and saved to the photo library of the device you are using.
- Local network connection details: used to set up a direct connection between two devices on the same Wi-Fi, hotspot or local network.
- App settings: preferences such as theme, language and microphone on/off, stored locally on your device.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide core features: live camera and sound sharing, QR code pairing, photos, recording, camera switching and zoom.
- To remember your theme, language and other preferences.
- To look into an issue when you contact support with the information you provide.
3. Video and Sound Transmission and Local Storage
Live video and sound are transmitted directly between paired devices using WebRTC, on the same local network or hotspot only. They are not relayed through our servers, and we do not store any video or sound on our servers.
Photos and recordings never happen automatically. A file is created only when you tap the photo or record button, and it is saved to your photo library.
4. Permissions
- Camera: to stream the camera view, scan QR codes, take photos and record videos.
- Microphone: to capture live sound at the sender, stream it to the receiver and include it in recordings. You can turn the microphone off in the app at any time; if you deny this permission, you can still stream video only.
- Photos: to save the photos and videos you choose to capture.
- Local Network: to find, pair and connect two devices on the same local network.
- Network: for local network connections and WebRTC transmission.
You can turn these permissions off in your device settings. Related features may not work without them.
5. Third-Party SDKs and Services
The app uses system capabilities such as the camera, microphone, QR code recognition and photo library, together with open-source components such as WebRTC, to capture, stream and save video and sound. This version does not include advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not sell or share your personal information with third parties.
When you tap "Check for Updates", the app asks the Apple App Store for the latest version number of this app. This request does not include your personal information.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Live video and sound are only transmitted between devices you choose to pair. Please pair only with devices you trust and avoid scanning QR codes from unknown sources.
We may provide necessary information where required by law or by a lawful request from a court or regulator. However, this version has no user accounts and no cloud video storage, so we generally hold no user content that could be provided.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Settings such as theme, language and microphone on/off are stored locally on your device. Photos and videos are stored in your photo library, where you manage and delete them yourself.
To delete saved photos or videos, delete them in your photo library. To clear the app's local settings, uninstall the app or clear its data in your device settings.
8. Children
Shared Camera is not directed at children under 13. Minors should use the app with the guidance and consent of a parent or guardian and in accordance with local laws.
9. Safety Tips
Use Shared Camera on a local network you trust. Public Wi-Fi may isolate devices or pose security risks. Do not capture, transmit, save or share images or sound of other people without their consent.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as features change or as laws or app review requirements require. The updated policy will be posted on this page and takes effect on the date shown above.
